WEMSS
Lab performs a variety of research activities in many areas of
engineering, from specific research services to Small Business
Innovation Research (SBIR) grants or contracts aimed at bringing
innovative ideas to product development.
Signal Processing is one of the most extensive research areas because it is at the center of every application in engineering. Our work is concentrated around the theory and application of transmitting, estimating, detecting, filtering, coding, analyzing, recognizing, and reproducing signals by digital or analog devices or techniques. The signals we deal with include general sensors, image, communication, geophysical, sonar, radar, medical.
Telecommunications
infrastructure is made possible by research performed over the
last several decades.
The Internet, mobile phones and other
wireless communications services, and broadband residential
access are just a sample of such advances that people are taking
for granted today. These products and services, derived from
basic research, change the way many people work, shop, and live.
Our research and future developments are motivated by the need to
understand these changes and their implications.
WEMSS Lab and its members
are working actively with the research community in bringing
solutions to new challenges.
Biomedical Signal Processing is the art and science of extracting clinically significant information from physiologic signals. Our objectives are to develop new methods of signal processing that extract useful information from physiologic signals to help the healthcare team makes crucial and timely decisions.
